Contract PCBA manufacturing

We are competent and reliable subcontractors: we support our customers in every aspect.

By doing so, we are also able to manufacture ready-to-sell PCBAs:

  • Based directly on customers’ designs, manufacturing them according to standard specifications
  • Based on our customers’ ideas and needs. In this case, we can manage the design, prototyping, sampling and process definition, and then proceed with mass production, with considerable time savings and with fewer unexpected issues, since we deal with the design phase from the outset

We can produce small batches or millions of pieces, and everything is done according to the process described on this page.

Industrialisation and
Production Process

It all begins with the production standards, followed by product industrialisation and prototyping, and then mass production. Thanks to Gread’s expertise, we are excellent at optimising processes and making production as efficient as possible, reducing lead times. We improve the products’ features in a cost-effective way, and we improve our customers’ economic competitiveness with the same performance standards.

  • Order receipt

    Orders are received and processed by Gread's Italian headquarters in Rovereto, and uploaded to the automated production system.
  • Supply chain planning

    Based on the order's characteristics, we plan the procurement of all necessary production components, from suppliers located all over the world.
  • Warehouse

    Warehouse logistics, managed with a specific in-house software, integrates the production processes in our two facilities in Italy and Romania and optimises flows by automating component storage and retrieval.
    • IQC

      Inbound Quality Control verifies that all purchased components comply with the technical specifications required of suppliers.
      Only the materials that successfully pass this phase are stored in the warehouse, ready to be used.

  • SMT

    To assemble our board components, we use 5 Fuji SMT lines, 3D optical inspection machines, screen printing machines with 2D control, and 24-zone reflow ovens. Our assembly lines are extremely flexible, and can handle small or large volumes with equal efficiency.
    • AOI Inspection | X-ray

      With AOI inspection machines, we immediately check that every single component mounted on the boards is correct and meets quality standards.

  • THT

    PTH components are assembled and soldered in compliance with the RoHS directive, using wave or selective soldering machines in an ESD-protected environment. Process quality is verified through automatic optical inspection (AOI) and thorough visual inspections performed by qualified personnel.
    • Functional tests

      All our PCBAs undergo specific functional tests, defined according to customer specifications, to ensure their proper operation. We offer different types of testing, including ICT testing (In-circuit testing), flying probe testing and customised functional tests.

  • Conformal coating e potting

    If necessary, boards and components can be protected against external elements.
    Conformal coating protects the boards from potentially harmful external agents (dust, humidity, etc.), while potting creates an electro-insulating barrier to prevent damage to electronic components.
  • Assembly

    We supply semi-finished products and assemble and wire PCBAs to produce ready-to-install or ready-to-sell items inside plastic and/or metal housings.
  • Quality control

    Each board has its own identification code, which allows us to track its progress throughout the production phase. Its proper operation can be verified at any time and we can intervene accordingly. We also guarantee the quality of our items after they are sold. By making our components fully traceable, we can trace back the assembly, inspection, testing and shipment dates at any time.
  • Shipping

    We ship in Italy and Europe using national and international couriers, and monitor our shipments from departure to delivery. Parcels with final products are marked with a label stating their content, once they are ready to be dispatched.
    Shipping is carried out by relying on international couriers and with our own vehicles.

Certifications and quality

Our company is certified in accordance with ISO 9001:2015, guaranteeing a robust quality management system geared towards continuous improvement.
We apply strict controls at every stage of the production process. We perform Inound Quality Control on delivered components, constantly monitor product and process quality KPIs, and perform quality checks on final products to ensure they fully comply with the required standards.

    It all begins with the customer’s idea and a research and development phase to create the hardware design, the required firmware and the app that allows users to control the board from a device.

  • Material procurement management

    We manage the procurement of electronic components directly, relying on major international distributors.

  • Software and app

    We complement our PCBA design by developing applications to update, monitor and manage the boards remotely.

  • Traceability

    The Data Matrix on each board provides unique identification and details about the components used, and allows us to track all production states at any time.

  • Product certification support

    We support our customers in the product approval and certification processes. Our Pre-Compliance Unit performs an assesses product features and recommends changes as needed. By relying on Gread’s engineers and on our lab measuring equipment, certifying your products at an accredited laboratory will be quick and cost-effective.

  • After-sales

    We provide an after-sales repair service that allows our customers to support their end-users throughout the entire product life cycle.
